Why support DEC?If you make a tax deductible donation to support DEC, you are helping to improve the lives of people with diabetes. You're not just throwing money at a problem. You're not sending money down a black hole of nonprofit bureaucratic nothingness. You're not educating people who don't want to be educated. You're not offering motivation to people who couldn't care less. You're helping people who actually want help!Where is the support money going?
Well, it costs approximately two thousand dollars for one diabetic camper to attend DEC for one week. Not many people can afford such a steep price, especially since it's already extremely expensive to BE a diabetic in the first place! Our staff is all volunteer (we'd like to pay ourselves someday, and if we're lucky, we may). But we have to figure out how to bring camp costs down. One way to lower the cost of camp is to accept in-kind donations. In kind donations are non monetary donations for things we need at camp, such as glucose tablets, water bottles, glucose meters, meals, t-shirts & fanny packs. Another way to lower the cost of camp is to solicit money donations from people and other entities who are passionate about helping people with diabetes improve their diabetic lives! Are you a 501(c)(3)?Yes! Yes we are! We are a 501(c)3 public charity. We were approved by the IRS on March 6, 2012. All donations received after November, 2011 are tax deductible!
